12.5m ALOS Digital Elevation Model (DEM) in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River,Southwest China and surrounding areas

The data in this dataset are framing data 12.5m ALOS digital elevation model (DEM) in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River,Southwest China and surrounding areas. The data is derived from the high-resolution ground correction data of Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) PALSAR of Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF).

The data format is TIF, the spatial resolution is 12.5 meters, and the coordinate system is WGS_ 1984_ UTM zonal projection. The data range covers the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the southwest and surrounding areas. From the perspective of administrative regions, it includes Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi, as well as eastern Tibet, southern Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, western Guangdong, Hainan Island, Hunan and western Hubei. The data exists in the form of tiles. If multiple adjacent data are required, the data shall be embedded after downloading. The data can be used for various terrain analysis.

File naming and required software

The DEM file in the dataset is named as follows: AP_ 05873_ FBS_ F0540_ RT1.dem. tif。 Among them, AP represents ALOS PALSAR, 05873 represents the absolute orbital number of the satellite, FBS represents the beam mode as monopolarized, F0540 represents the frame number as 540, RT1 represents the resolution level as 1, that is, high resolution, dem represents the data type, and tif represents the data format.
The number of maps in the dataset is large, so users do not have to download all data at once. Before downloading DEM data, users are recommended to download the "frame combination relationship" data in this dataset, overlay their own data within the study area in GIS software, determine the specific frames to download, and then download the data of corresponding frames respectively. See the instruction document for specific methods.
